The Robertsons are descendants of Arthur Robertson of Scotland, who died in Virginia after 1810. This family travels from Virginia to Tennessee, and then several lines move on to Greene County, Missouri
Thomas came from Scotland about 1780 and located in Virginia. His four brothers came later and all served in the Revolutionary War. After the war they all moved to Tennessee. About 1837 Thomas came to Missouri. His wife Elizabeth (Laine) Robertson of Irish
descent, had two brothers, Tandy and Middleton Laine.
Thomas settled near Republic, MO., and built the Lindsey Chapel, an outstanding church, and gave the land for the Lindsey
Cemetery. He and Elizabeth had eleven children.
Thomas was drafted about age 17, in Amherst Co., VA, in late 1780. He served under Captain Richard Ballinger. He marched towards Richmond 01-01-1781 and arrived after it was burned. He served as a guard at Fort Hood until discharged. Later, Thomas was a 20 day volunteer with Colonel Ross and marched to Shirley's old field. Thomas then went to Mobbin Hill, near James. for three months, until discharged.Thomas evidently had left Amherst Co. VA by 1791. He then went to Coke Co., TN in 1802, then to Roane Co., TN in 1808 and
finally to Monroe Co., TN in 1822. Charles Laine and Joseph Laine were his witnesses in 1832. Thomas died in Monroe Co., TN in 1834.
The software we use is a Microsoft FoxPro program that I wrote. Originally I wrote this because nothing else was on the market. Now our file is so large that it either will not fit or it crashes all the current programs. We can create and accept GEDCOM files and we test using Family Tree Maker as the reference since this seem to be the most common commercial program in use. Having our own program also allows me to write code for special situations or interfaces with other systems.
